2012 Picture of the Week (19/52) – Spring sunset

Today was a beautiful sunny day in Yokohama, and I took this picture as I was leaving work. The sun is setting farther north on the horizon as summer quickly approaches. I thought the colour came out quite well on this photo. No filters as always!

The Tanzawa Mountains are on the left in this sunset picture from Yokohama.

Sunset at Shonan Beach

Last Friday, we walked down to the beach along the Hikiji River in Fujisawa.  We arrived at the beach near sunset, so we were treated to a wonderful display of the sun setting behind Mt Fuji.  Enjoy the pictures!

This was taken from a pedestrian bridge. Mt Fuji was visible, but due to the brightness of the sun, it overwhelmed my iPhone camera.

Looking a little farther north, you can see the Tanzawa Mountains and the Hikiji River.

Looking southeast, Enoshima was visible.

After crossing the pedestrian bridge, we looked west toward Mt Fuji. Again, you can't see it in this photo.

Mt Fuji is beginning to become visible.

Looking over to Enoshima, there are a lot of surfers in the water.

From the beach, I took this great shot of Enoshima.

The sun is beginning to go behind Mt Fuji in this shot.

I love the colours in this photo.

Zooming in on Mt Fuji a bit. Great shot.

Nice colours in this one. The sun has now gone behind Mt Fuji.

One final look at Mt Fuji, now that the sun has gone completely behind it.

We were quite fortunate that we arrived at the beach at this time, and that the clouds weren’t obstructing our view.  It was amazing to see!

My Top 5 (or 6) Instagram Photos

Since May 2011, I’ve been using the incredibly popular Instagram app for iPhone, and have taken more than 300 photos since then.  The users of Instagram can like and comment on photos as much as they want.  Below are my top 5 (actually, top 6) most liked photos.

3rd place (4 way tie)

An incredible sunset near my home.

A black and white photo of the Odakyu Shonandai Station platform.

An unusually empty Sotetsu Line car.

A big X on the platform of Futamatagawa Station. This was also chosen as a top picture for Instagramhub.

2nd Place

Under the Shonan Monorail.

1st Place

Mt Fuji at sunset through 2 fences, trees and above an industrial building.

I was quite surprised at the most liked photo.  It’s a rather grainy picture that I used zoom with.  It looks good on the phone, but not so great on a computer.  So, what do you think?  Which do you like the best?

Picture of the Week 47 – Sunset Silhouette

Life is returning back to normal these days, but some things are still not normal. That’ll be for another post, though. This week’s picture is a very simple one. It’s a sunset picture again, but simple colours. I love the colours in this one. Enjoy!

Show Me Japan” is back for a 20th time!  This post is taking part.

Picture of the Week 34 – Narita Sunset

I just arrived back in Japan after a week in Canada, and I saw this view after getting off the plane. It’s a nice sunset and the Delta Airlines Boeing 747 plane I was on.

This post is taking part in “Show Me Japan.”

Picture of the Week 28 – Mt Fuji Sunset

The sunsets this month have been incredible. I’m very lucky to be able to see the sunsets, which feature Mt Fuji. In this picture, you can see Mt Fuji in the middle. This photo doesn’t do it justice. It was an amazing sunset to see. Mt Fuji actually looks bigger than in this photo.
