Farms in the middle of a city

Today, I went out walking and taking pictures around Maioka station on the Yokohama Subway Blue Line.  There were a couple of highlights in this area that I saw.  There’s a beautiful temple there, but also, much of the area is agricultural.  There are so many farm fields!  Maioka is right in the middle of the city.  In all directions from this neighbourhood, there is dense urban development.  Maioka is an interesting place to see, I think.  It made me wonder why there’s a subway station in such an area.  However, there are some major things nearby.  Maioka Park is a rather large park, which I didn’t visit.  Also, Maioka Furusato no Mori, which includes a hiking trail.  But the biggest thing is Meiji University, which isn’t really that close to the station.  Anyway, it was a very interesting walk, even though it was 34 degrees.
