It seems touch screen devices are getting more and more popular. Smartphones, tablet computers, shopping mall directories, ATMs, and now vending machines. I took this picture on the Tokyo-bound Tokaido Line platform in Ofuna Station.

You are right about the growing popularity of touch screens, they seem to be everywhere. I don’t remember seeing a touch vending machine during my last visit to Tokyo a few months ago (December), but maybe they were just being installed at that time.
There are a couple in Ofuna station, actually. One of them has been around longer than that. I think it’s only in JR stations.
Very Nice! Must be brand new and look forward to checking them out in Japan

Yeah, they just started appearing sometime last year. Not sure when this one was installed. But it’s only in JR stations.
Did you know that these machines recommend drinks to you depending on you age and gender?
It “looks” at you with a camera and decides which drinks would suit you.
I wrote a post about them:

Really? I didn’t try it, so I didn’t know. One of these days, I’ll have to try it.
