Exploring Japan: Naka Ward, Yokohama Part 1 – Chinatown
On July 20, 2009, I visited Naka Ward in Yokohama. I started in Chinatown, then went to Yamate, Yamashita Park and the Aka-renga district. In this post, I’ll show the only two Chinatown pictures I took.
My next post will include the many Yamate photos I took.
I’m all shaken up
Well, it took long enough for an earthquake to happen. And it wasn’t a little one. That was a long one! I haven’t felt an earthquake in months, and just 10 minutes ago, there was a pretty big one. The shaking lasted for about a minute or so. According to the preliminary reports on TV, it was a magnitude 6.9 earthquake and 3 or 4 on the Japanese intensity scale (4 in Tokyo, Chiba and Ibaraki). It wasn’t an intense shaking, but it was very long. Did everyone enjoy it?
Update: The earthquake happened near the Izu Islands southwest of here. The USGS says it was a 7.1 magnitude earthquake.
